Job Description

A great opportunity for a garment technologist (sports) with 5 – 10 years experience. A definite advantage would be if you have an understanding of technical/active/performance fabrics.


Key Responsibilities:

·         Managing the day-to-day relationships with the garment manufacturers to ensure that they are operating to the required technical standards.

·         Develop and manage product specifications and technical packs to ensure product meets aesthetic and technical expectations.

·         Manage and implement the safety policy.

·         Enhancing and updating the existing Buying Group garments though identifying and implementing relevant technology and innovation.

·         Enhancing and updating the existing garments though identifying and implementing relevant technology and innovation.

·         Liaising between design and overseas suppliers with regards to samples, fabric, trims and production process.

·         Fitting samples with designer and feeding back alterations to suppliers clearly and concisely.

·         Monitoring and driving the flow process of the approval of trims, test reports, sample procedure and final inspection of bulk garments until delivery to the customer.


Technical and Functional Competencies:

·         Develop tech packs with designers to ensure accurate briefs/blocks are given to suppliers on styles, garment and trim specifications and fabric quality and test requirements.

·         Receiving and checking fit samples and organising fit times with the designer/buyer.

·         Receiving and checking of trims and test reports and submitted for approval.

·         Ensure quality check and reports are done on bulk garments upon arrival in South Africa.

·         Monitoring of the sampling and production procedures.
