Job Description

As a Senior buyer you will contribute to the continued growth of this successful retailer, managing a number of categories within a department.

Reports to:

Department Manager

 

The Role:

  • Sign, build and maintain partnerships with the world’s best brands most appropriate for the Customer
  • Sign, build and maintain partnerships with all private label suppliers, to ensure world class development within your categories.
  • Negotiate profitable trading terms that align with company requirements and ensure Supplier contracts are in place to govern all partnerships.
  • Source and on-board factories that adhere to the company standards and are able to deliver to the retail strategy.
  • Analyse and interpret data continuously to drive the right purchasing decisions;
  • Collaborate closely with your retail planner to create balanced assortments in the right depth across the right skus to optimise sell-through
  • Monitor Stock, sales, margin and assortment to ensure delivery of KPI’s
  • Manage the product process from selection, delivery to warehouse and go live on site, ensuring right product, right price, first time, every time.
  • Monitor social channels and be “on the street” to not only intimately understand, but be a part of millennial youth culture to drive the right decision making for the market.
  • Manage and mentor your department assistant to deliver to expectation

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant Diploma or Degree in Fashion, Marketing, Design, BSC or BComm
  • 8+ years’ experience in retail and more specifically within accessories buying and development
  • Competency in MS Office packages specifically in excel
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of retail maths
  • Proven ability in analytics & logical interpretation of data
