Marc Jacobs expands his brand with a make-up line.

It’s been a busy year for the world of colour cosmetics, with more and more designers choosing to expand their portfolios with make-up lines, including Marc Jacobs. The Louis Vuitton creative director is doing so with a little of help from cosmetics chain Sephora. The Marc Jacobs X Sephora line is expected to debut in just a couple of months’ time, and it promises beautiful buys. This large-scale beauty-themed project encompasses 122 products, according to Women’s Wear Daily. Set to launch in August, the line offers an array of beauty must-haves, ranging from eye shadow palettes to lip hues, nail lacquers and bronzers. According to the New York-based designer, it also includes some unisex products, such as lip balm and concealer.

The designer, who is rumoured to be leaving Louis Vuitton once his contract expires in 2014, says this line is his way of adding colour to the consumer's life. “Anything to me that is part of the joy, the ritual, of getting dressed – things that women enjoy like bags, shoes, fragrance, clothes, make-up – that’s what fashion’s about for me. I love the opportunity, wherever there is one, to adorn, to decorate, to scent, to dress. That's what fashion's all about,” Jacobs shared with Women’s Wear Daily. According to Jacobs, the collection has been put to the test on the runway, using the nail polishes in his last fashion show, and on the red carpet, by his long-time friend (and film director) Sofia Coppola, at the Met Gala in May. The Marc Jacobs X Sephora colour cosmetics line is set to debut on August 9.
